Prominent Building, Lending and Real Estate Experts to Discuss Strategies to Ease the Nation's Foreclosure Crisis at Charity Event

The discussions will take place Aug. 23rd at the Richard Nixon Library in Yorba Linda in a forum moderated by Bruce Norris, a real estate investor, educator and radio talk show host

The nation's real estate crisis is being exacerbated by government policies and lending restrictions that limit investors' ability to purchase, sell and refinance properties that have gone into foreclosure, according to Bruce Norris, a Riverside-based real estate expert and radio talk show host, and President of The Norris Group.

'A record percentage of the nation's housing inventory is in foreclosure,' Norris said. 'So why are most lenders limiting the number of loans made to investors to only four houses? And why is the Federal Housing Administration limiting its loans to owner occupants when investor groups could immediately use these loans to acquire, repair and resell properties that have been foreclosed on?'

These are some of the questions that Norris will pose to some of California's most prominent building, lending and real estate experts during an Aug. 23rd charity event at the Richard Nixon Library in Yorba Linda. The panelists include:

-- Tommy Williams, President of the National Auctioneers Association.
-- Richard Lambros, CEO of the Building Industry Association of Southern
California.
-- Rick Sharga, Vice President of Marketing for Irvine, Calif.-based
RealtyTrac, the leading online marketplace for foreclosure properties.
-- Joel Singer, Executive Vice President of the California Association of
Realtors (CAR).
-- Christopher Thornberg, Principle of Los Angeles-based Beacon Economics,
a consulting firm specializing in analyses of real estate markets,
economic development and policy issues. Thornberg was previously an
economist with UCLA's Anderson Forecast.
-- Annemaria Allen, co-founder of The Compliance Group, Inc. of San
Marcos, Calif., a nationwide expert in state and federal mortgage
lending laws.
-- Philip X. Tirone, a nationally known mortgage broker and best selling
author whose books include '7 Steps to a 720 Credit Score.'

Norris, a real estate consultant, investor and educator who correctly predicted the current sub-prime lending and foreclosure crisis three years ago, will moderate the discussion.

'Our hope is that these panelists will stimulate the kind of innovative thinking that's needed to help lenders and government regulators ease the nation's foreclosure crisis,' said Norris, who regularly interviews lenders, economists, builders and other housing experts on his weekly real estate radio talk show, which airs at 6 p.m. Saturdays on KTIE 590 AM in the Inland Empire.

Net proceeds from the Aug. 23rd event will be donated to the Orange County affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the world's largest grassroots organization dedicated to finding a cure for breast cancer.

The event has more than 20 sponsors, including creative agency Frye Wiles, the San Diego Creative Investors Association, Investors Workshops of Orange County, MVT Productions, White House Catering, the Chicago Bulls, the Denver Nuggets, and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Another sponsor, Proxibid, will air the event nationally through its online auction platform at http://www.proxibid.com/.
