Ambulance company looking for a strong individual that can help with turn around: Position Responsibilities: - Monitors the monthly closing process to make sure it is progressing on schedule, reviews journal entries and ensures that account reconciliations are completed accurately and reviews them on a timely basis - Contributes to accounting process improvements and quality assurance efforts and helps document them through Sarbanes-Oxley process mapping and risk control matrices. - Responsible for accounting policies and procedures being followed and are in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). - Provides advice on technical issues and accounting practices to the Corporate Director of Accounting. - Interfaces with the external auditors for accounting matters; responsible for providing schedules and documents related to the external audit of the Company's financial statements - Interfaces with the external auditors and internal auditors for Sarbanes-Oxley matters; responsible for providing documentation and evidence. - Supervise, train and develop accounting department staff. - Special projects and initiatives as needed. Required experience: - 5 years experience managing accounting staff is required - BS/BA or Masters in Accounting is required. - CPA is required - Strong knowledge of GAAP is required. - Sarbanes-Oxley 404 experience is required. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of products (Word, Excel, Access & Power Point) is required
